Get to know Josh

Josh has extensive experience working as a Physiotherapist in the NHS, private practice and sporting settings.

Qualifying in 2015 Josh works as a Physiotherapist in one of the UK’s leading teaching hospitals, working across different clinical areas such as medicine, respiratory, critical care, orthopaedics, hands, burns and plastics. This has enabled him to develop a core of physiotherapy skills and understanding of management of acute and long-term conditions.

Over the past 6 years he has focused on musculoskeletal practice and worked as an Advanced Physiotherapist in the NHS. He has also worked in several private practices in the area as a senior physiotherapist before deciding he would set up MotionWorks Physiotherapy.

Josh has also worked in elite, semi professional and amateur sporting environments across football and rugby providing pitch side cover and rehabilitation for players. He spent 4 years working for Newcastle United Football Club, working with academy and under 23 squads.

A highlight was travelling with an Under 16's Team when they won a tournament in Paris, some of whom are now involved with the First Team! He has also worked for Northumberland County Rugby as well as clubs such as Morpeth, Medicals and Ashington.

Through experience and training Josh has developed a wealth of understanding in assessment and management a range of acute and long term musculoskeletal injuries. He is passionate about providing high quality care for clients with musculoskeletal injuries to get them back to what they love doing.

Josh was on the committee for a not-for-profit regional training organisation: North East Musculoskeletal Society, serving 4 years as CPD Officer, Treasurer and Vice chair to try improve practice across musculoskeletal services in the region.

To enhance his own knowledge and skills Josh recently completed a Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology with Distinction which has broadened his understanding of the value of physical activity and exercise as a key component in managing a range of health conditions.

He has completed several courses including pitch side management, taping and strapping, sports massage, nutritional awareness, and acupuncture to enhance his skills and provide a range of services to clients.

Josh enjoys playing and watching sport, going to the gym, cycling, skiing and climbing the odd hill. He also loves cooking and watching The Great British Bake Off!
